What EatRate is
EatRate is a social app for rating and sharing meals with friends. You post a photo, a 0–10 rating, and an optional caption; this is shown to your friends and to other EatRate users browsing that restaurant or nearby feed — not just your friends. Reviews on EatRate may be incentivized: reviews at select partner restaurants earn points, redeemable for a $10 gift card at 750 points, regardless of the rating given.
Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when you sign up.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy.
Your content
You own the photos and captions you post. By posting, you grant EatRate a license to display, store, and distribute that content within the app — to your friends, on restaurant pages, and to us for the purpose of running the service (including generating aggregate insights for restaurant partners, which never includes your identity). You're responsible for having the right to post what you post.
Reviews and rewards
- Reviews must reflect a real visit or meal — see the Acceptable Use Policy for what counts as fraud.
- Reviews earn points only at restaurants we've designated as points partners — not every review earns points, and which restaurants qualify may change over time. Points are earned per review, not tied to the rating given.
- 750 points can be claimed for a $10 gift card. Claimed gift cards are redeemable only at restaurants we've designated as soft-launch partners at the time of redemption — a separate list from points partners, which may or may not overlap.
- Points have no cash value on their own, aren't transferable between accounts, and expire if your account is deleted or suspended for a violation of these terms.
- During our pilot, redemptions may be manually reviewed before a gift code is issued. We reserve the right to deny or reclaim a reward if we determine it was earned through fake, duplicate, or bot-generated posts.
- Gift card rewards have no cash value, aren't transferable, and can't be exchanged for cash.
Restaurant data
Restaurant names, locations, and cuisine info shown in the app come from public sources (Google Places, Yelp, OpenStreetMap) or from users. We don't guarantee this data is complete, current, or error-free — always confirm details (hours, whether a place is still open) directly with the restaurant.
Nutrition information
Calorie and macronutrient figures shown on posts and in restaurant analytics are estimates, not laboratory-verified nutrition facts, unless a post is explicitly labeled as coming from USDA data or entered directly by the person who made the dish. Estimates may come from a menu match, a published-nutrition lookup, an AI reading of the post's photo, or a generic fallback when nothing more specific is available — the app labels which one on every post. EatRate is not a medical, dietary, or nutrition service. If you have a food allergy, a medical condition, or any other reason to need exact nutrition information, confirm directly with the restaurant before relying on any figure shown here.
Disclaimers
EatRate is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any reward will be available at any given time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, EatRate isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. We'll update the date above when we do; continued use after a change means you accept the update.
